A story of un-Islamic realities (domestic violence, forced marriages, etc.) facing some unfortunate Muslim families.
A Walk in the Park. Part 1:
The Maliki School grants the father of the bride the power of ijbar [compulsion]. This is seen as a safety measure in the interest of the girl. A girl naively may want to marry a brother but in reality the person may not be fit for her or the position of husbandhood. This may be true to a certain degree. However, what we witness in our societies is completely different. The father or the guardian of the bride tend not to look at the character and the degree of religiosity of the potential suitor but he inclines towards other interests; either material or class or social affinity and affability and hence completely disregards the aspect of religiosity.
This is not a study or a refutation of the concept of ijbar. However, we need to bear in mind the hadith of the prophet as indicated in the video that the Prophet [peace be upon his said]:
“If there comes to you one with whose religion and attitude you are satisfied, then give your daughter to him in marriage, for if you do not do so, fitnah and mischief will become widespread on earth’’. [Narrated by Tirmidhi who declared it Hasan]
This is a sign of the Prophethood of our beloved. No can deny the reality of the hadith in our societies and the need to implement this Prophetic miracle in our dealings in searching for a suitable partner for our daughters, sisters and brothers.

May be you should do something about it in the LMC rather than talking about it. Many are fed of the lack of help there besided a database. Start creating sustainable communities here in the UK as this is our priority first.
